NYC Production of The Taming of the Shrew

Dear Friends,

The Hipgnosis Theatre Company returns with a fresh look at The Taming of the Shrew, following up successful productions of Measure for Measure and The Winter's Tale with one of Shakespeare's most controversial but also funniest plays!

As a ramshackle, vaudeville-inspired Taming unfolds-- complete with actor-produced music and sound effects, colorful backdrops and unforgiving footlights-- the story of Kate and Petruchio, the hidden play inside the slapstick, comes into full focus. Hipgnosis' The Taming of the Shrew is a meditation on love, the theatrics it demands from us and creates in us, and what it means to be truly rich.

When: June 15 - July 1; Wednesdays - Saturdays, 8pm; Sundays, 5pm; additional Saturday matinee (2pm) on June 30.

Where: Flamboyan Theatre, at the Clemente Soto Velez (CSV) Cultural Center, 107 Suffolk St, between Rivington and Delancey Streets. Directions: Take the F to Delancey St or the J/M/Z to Essex; walk East on Delancey (towards the Williamsburg Bridge); turn left on Suffolk.

Tickets: Reservations through SmartTix or by calling 212-868-4444 Discounts: The regular ticket price is $18. Use the discount code "FRIEND" for $14-tickets to any performance OR the discount code "HIP33" for $12-tickets to performances on Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday, between June 17 and June 28 (that's 33% off the full price).

See you at the theatre!
